AMAZONITE

BRAZIL

Amazonite Quartzite, quarried in Brazil, is a rare turquoise-blue stone prized for its vivid colour and expressive movement. Its distinctive tone is associated with trace amounts of lead and water within amazonite feldspar, creating its remarkable blue-green character and luminous mineral depth.

Amazonite has a long history as both a decorative and symbolic stone, often carved into jewellery, amulets and ceremonial objects in ancient cultures, including Egypt and Mesopotamia. Across history, it has been associated with protection, luck and spiritual significance. Today, it is famously used for the walls of Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Box Café in New York, where its colour resonates with the house’s iconic blue. Once treasured as a gemstone, it now finds new expression as an architectural surface with history, rarity and striking visual identity.

Design:

Amazonite Quartzite is selected where colour becomes part of the architectural identity. It works beautifully as a statement surface in hospitality, retail and private residential interiors, particularly across large planes where its vivid blue-green movement can be fully appreciated. Its palette pairs well with brushed metal, warm timber, soft neutral tones and restrained architectural detailing.

Surface Finish

Amazonite Quartzite is most commonly used in a high-polished finish, which enhances its vibrant blue-green hue, crystalline depth and expressive mineral movement. Honed (matte) and brushed finishes are also available for projects seeking a softer, more understated surface character.

Application

Quartzite is a highly durable natural stone valued for its heat resistance and low porosity. Combining performance with distinctive character, it is well suited to high-end residential and commercial applications including kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, feature walls, and other architectural surfaces.
