AZUL MACAUBAS

BRAZIL

Azul Macaubas Quartzite, quarried in Bahia, Brazil, is one of the world’s most recognisable exotic blue stones used in architecture. Its surface moves through a wide spectrum of blue, from intense cerulean to pale grey-blue, arranged in long, fluid streaks that feel like an impressionist study of shifting sky, or the layered blues of the Mediterranean Sea. The result is a stone with light, rhythm and a rare sense of architectural calm.

Formed through intense heat and pressure from quartz-rich sandstone, Azul Macaubas carries the strength and durability associated with quartzite. Its composition is predominantly quartz, the mineral responsible for its hardness, density and resistance. Its iconic ocean-blue colour comes from dumortierite, a rare silicate mineral found within the stone.

Design

Azul Macaubas Quartzite is selected where the stone is intended to create openness, reflection and visual calm. It performs especially well across large-format floors, bathroom walls, vanity areas, feature panels, kitchen islands and bookmatched compositions, where its linear movement can extend through the architecture.

Surface Finish

Azul Macaubas Quartzite can be finished in polished, honed or brushed surfaces. A polished finish gives the stone a more traditional and elegant expression, while honed (matte) and brushed finishes offer a softer, more organic character, revealing unique texture, natural movement and a quieter sense of refinement.

Application

Quartzite is a highly durable natural stone valued for its heat resistance and low porosity. Combining performance with distinctive character, it is well suited to high-end residential and commercial applications including kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, feature walls, and other architectural surfaces.
