Decorating your home with marble walls: What you need to know and what to watch out for!
Marble walls are one of the most popular places to use marble in home decoration, as the large surface area of the wall allows the marble's natural patterns to be showcased beautifully
Today, Siamtak will introduce what you need to know about marble walls: how to choose the right marble, where to install it, different installation styles, and things to be careful about when choosing marble for your home's decorative walls

Types of marble walls
Marble can be broadly divided into two types: natural marble and artificial marble (synthetic stone), each with its own limitations and differences
Genuine natural marble walls
Naturally occurring marble is characterized by its diverse patterns and colors, varying depending on the type of stone. Each slab is unique when cut. The stone has a luxurious feel to the touch and also retains a coolness to the touch

Artificial marble wall
This is a type of marble created by grinding and reshaping marble scraps, then drawing or printing patterns onto the surface to resemble natural marble. Its main advantages are that it is cheaper and lighter than natural marble, although the patterns may not be as detailed

Pattern matching
Besides considering the installation point, the pattern joining technique is another important aspect to pay attention to in order to achieve the desired pattern. For marble, there are three main types of pattern joining
1. Continue the book match pattern
This is a pattern created by the mirroring of mineral veins from two or more sheets, similar to unfolding a book, which helps to create a much more prominent pattern

2. Continue the Vein Match pattern
This technique involves creating a continuous pattern by emphasizing the mineral veins along the entire wall, resulting in a smooth and visually appealing stone design that isn't too jarring

3. Random pattern
This is a non-continuous installation, making it easy for installers to perform, but considerations may need to be given to color tone and consistency of the mineral veins

Things to watch out for when installing marble as a wall
- Natural marble is relatively heavy compared to other materials, so special structural preparations may be required to support it
- Substandard installers should be used; specialized marble installers should be employed to reduce the risk of accidents after installation or damage during installation
- Improper care, such as using acidic or alkaline solutions to clean the stone surface, or using hard or sharp objects to scratch the stone surface
Cleaning and maintenance
Marble walls are a relatively infrequently used area, making them a suitable location for installation without worrying about potential weaknesses in the marble itself, as they don't experience the same heavy loads or stress as other installation areas
- Clean with a damp cloth or with a specialized stone cleaner
- Apply a waterproofing sealant regularly every 1-2 years, and use a stone color enhancer when the stone's color starts to fade
- Be careful not to let hard or sharp objects strike the wall, as this may cause damage
